Last Week of School!

The St. Francis Bazaar was full of fun and excitement! PYP 5 stalls were busy and items sold out quickly. Thank you very much for all the help from parents and a special thank you for the class representatives for organizing and informing everyone to make it happen. Music presentations were also a highlight of the event. Well done PYP 5!

Here are some more pictures of the preparation for the Bazaar last week. Parents helping produce items to sell and students planning their posters for their stalls.

For this last week, students will stop taking their daily reading books on Tuesday and will only have homework on Monday. If you would like your child to take some books from the library for the holidays, just fill in the authorization slip that was sent via the diary and they will check out the books during the school day.

For the holidays, students are encouraged to take part in the reading challenge. More information will be sent in the school folder.

Reminder:
This Friday is the last day of School this Term and it is a half day for students.  They leave at 12:10 with no lunch.

Have a great holiday!

A Buzzzing Week!

Last week PYP 5 went on an amazing field trip to Cidade das Abelhas!

Students had a great time learning about bees and their organization system! Bees are so well organized! They are also a vital element to other systems in nature that depend on pollination. It was a good and interesting way to move from the solar system discussed in class to other systems out there in nature.

Also last week, reports went home and we held our parent-teacher meetings. Thank you for your punctuality and we hope it was a meaningful time to clarify doubts and talk about the development of  our students.

The end of year is approaching and the St. Francis Bazaar is around the corner. It is next Saturday 10th December and students and parents are busy producing items to sell. Thank you very much for your help!

Reminder:
Dear parents from PYP 5 Omega and Sigma,
This Friday 9th, there will be an overall rehearsal for the Bazaar in Pinheiros Campus. All PYP 5 students from Jd. Europa will go to Pinheiros in the afternoon. An authorization letter was sent home last week. Please fill in and send it back to school as soon as possible. All student will be back to Jd. Europa at the end of school day.

Have a great week!

Another Busy Week!

Last week was a very busy week in PYP 5:

  • The week started with a treat from the OLINCA School from Mexico! Students from Olinca School are spending some time here in Brazil hosted by St. Francis families and they prepared and presented an assembly to the whole primary.
  • Parents started to come to school at different times to help the students in producing their items to sell in the St. Francis Bazaar! The class representatives are organizing it with parents. If you would like to take part and come during the school day to help as well, please contact the class representative from your class.
  • Students could listen to a storyteller from New Zealand and learn a little bit about their culture, trying out some mevements and chants.
  • It was PYP 5 Beta and PYP 5 Omega's assembly! Thank you very much for all the support from home, helping students to learn their lines and practise. Congratulations to all students involved!
  • In the classroom, students have been reflecting about teamwork and how to work as a group. They were given the tower challenge where each group had to build the highest structure possible using only newspaper and tape. It was a learning experience focused on working collaboratively to encourage planning, communication of ideas and team work. There were some interesting ideas, unexpected outcomes and lots of fun around the class, but above all, students were able to itentify what makes a good team work.

Have a great week!
