PYP 5 Routine Work

Students are always engaged in different learning experiences, working hard and trying their best. Apart from all the exciting activities for Unit work, there are also some routine work on a weekly basis where students practise and develop their skills throughout the year.

One routine is the Daily 5 that we are implementing in the classrooms. Students are already used to some of the routines like the Read to Self, Work on Writing and Word Work. (See pictures below)

Another one is the MyiMaths website support. Students are beginning to use the chrome books in class to access their individual tasks on-line and practise on their own. (See pictures below)

This week starts with a costume day on Monday! It`s Halloween! Come dressed to scare! 

And we take a little rest halfway through the week. There is no school on Wed 2nd November, All souls day.

Explorers!

PYP 5 has started to research and discuss about explorations and inventions. They know they will have to show their creativity towards the end of the Unit, so with that in mind Mr. Concagh is joining the groups in a lesson focused on sketching skills to help them develop the skills for a final design of a personal invention. (see pictures below)

Throughout last week students worked on a personal research about an explorer. They used computers to find different sources of information in their research and organised a presentation to share it with the group. It was another opportunity for everyone to identify and discuss reasons why people explore and the impact of exploration and discoveries on people in the past, present and future. (See pictures below)

We're back!

Welcome back!

We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable week.

Before the break all PYP 5 and PYP 4 students went to the theatre watch 'Canção dos Direitos da Criança', a play about children's rights. It was a good opportunity to reflect about Unit 1. Check out the school's latest bulletin (#349) to see more information and pictures of this field trip and also Peraltas Trip.

Friday 7th was an exciting day in school. Here are the main events:


1- PYP 5 Sigma had their assembly in JD. Europa Campus! A great presentation with a short and clear message:


Together we are better.


Let's work together, grow together, get the best of each one of us to live and enjoy each other, together. Well done! (See short video below)

2- School was filled in tones of pink. It was Pinktober day!

3- It was our bake sale! We had many different types of food and all students worked really hard at their stalls to sell them. It was a success! Well done!

Busy, Busy Week!

Last week PYP 5 students started the second Unit of Inquiry with an interesting provocation. They observed, discussed and wondered about different objects and their uses and images related to exploration.

There was no school last Friday and we hope everyone could enjoy the extra time with the family to rest and have some fun! It was great to have a longer weekend to rest, especially because we have a busy week ahead of us!

• Students are taking their Unit 1 folder home today (Monday 3rd) together with a reflection sheet. Please go through their work and ask your child to explain them to you. Fill in the reflection sheet and send both back to school. 
• Tuesday 4th is our trip to the theatre! We will watch 'Canção dos Direitos da Criança' to recall our discussion and reflection about children's right from Unit 1. 
• This Friday we will have our school's bake sale! PYP 5 Omega and Sigma in Jd. Europa and PYP 4 and 5 in Pinheiros will have the week to prepare and organise the bake sale. 
• Also, this Friday is the Pinktober day in school and children can come wearing a pink top and jeans and donate R$5,00 to be given to an institution. More information will be sent in the students' diary.
• And still this Friday, PYP 5 Sigma will have their assembly! All parents from PYP 5 Sigma are invited to come and watch! Friday 7th at 8:00.

Let's celebrate with Lucas Galvão Ramos and Isabela Marchi Silva both students from PYP 5 Beta in Pinheiros. Their art pieces were chosen for the Art of the Month in school! Well done!

All that within a week... only to have another break! There is no school next week, it is our Half Term Break! Enjoy!
