Research, presentations and more!

Last week students took some time in class to reflect about their learning, thinking about what they know and what they want to know. In groups, students discussed about the Unit and took notes of their questions for a next research. From that research the groups then presented their findings to the rest of the class. Also, there is a whole lot more happening in PYP 5 such as reading, sharing, writing... Here are some pictures.

Have a great week!

Goods and services

Last week students were discussing the value of goods and the price range of a product on the shelves. They were also evaluating their own consumption habits and discussing how to spend money wisely. Students have also been immersed into poem writing, identifying features and applying them on their own poems. Shape poems were a big hit!
In visual arts, students discussed about bank notes and their features and are now designing their own bank notes.
There is a lot more going on in the classrooms. Students are practicing how to collect information and create pictographs and bar graphs, they are buying and selling items using play money and working out the change.

Note:

  • There is no school next week! It's Carnival Break! We see you all back to school on Monday 6th March.
  • It's Book Week right after carnival!

Have a great week!

Money and trade

Last week students had the opportunity to experience trading to get what they needed for different goals in class. They had to think and communicate to each other to solve disagreements and trade their objects fairly. They discussed about the importance of money as a system to solve troubles with trading. They could observe bank notes from different countries and identify some of their characteristics.

Student may bring coins and bank notes of different currencies to show to the class.
