It was a short but meaningful time for all of us (teachers, parents and students) to talk about the students' development and decide on how best we can all support them to take the next step in their life-long learning journey. Thank you very much for your time! Teachers will send home 2 copies of the meeting notes and goals on Tuesday via diary. Please sign them and send a copy back to school in your child's folder.
Also, Mrs. Starck is back to school! She returned from her maternity leave last Friday and is ready to take over PYP 5 Sigma group from Mrs. Weber and Mr. Smith. WELCOME BACK Mrs. Starck!
In class, students continued their research and practiced note taking to record information they collected from different sources. Then they used some time in class to share this information to the rest of the group. It was a good opportunity to show their understanding of children's rights and different resources and cultures and make connections to their own lives. (See pictures below)
However, rights are closely related to responsibilities, so students will now identify and discuss their responsibilities towards these rights. For a start, they are looking into people around the world who made (or are trying to make) a difference through their actions. Students were really impressed with Malala's biography and Laura de Castro in PYP 5 Beta even brought a book about her to school to show her friends. (See pictures below)
Please remember:
There is no school on Wednesday. It's the 7th September, a Brazilian holiday.
Have a great week!
